Creator Portal Updates and Insights for Fortnite Island Success - June 2025

Jun 13, 2025

The Fortnite Team

For creators watching closely, you may have noticed more data and analytics tools appearing in the Creator Portal.

These additions are part of our broader initiative that gives you — the creator — the tools and information you need to make data-informed decisions. This includes growing your audience, fine-tuning your experiences, scaling your business, and more.

Let's take a closer look at the Publishing and Analytics updates that have recently launched or are coming soon!

Publishing Tools

Publishing tools help you operate and manage your publishing activities in Fortnite. They offer greater control over essential tasks (like scheduling your island’s release) and provide insights that can help inform decisions around growth-driving activities like marketing.

A/B Testing

In May, we released the Thumbnail A/B Testing feature in the Creator Portal which lets you compare two different images to see which one drives more clicks and a higher click-through rate. This helps you optimize engagement, use real player data to reduce guesswork, and iterate faster.

Scheduled Publishing

Starting June 18, you’ll be able to schedule island releases in advance and time them with major events (perhaps a specific cultural moment or global sporting competition) or simply time them to go live while you’re away from your desk. This added flexibility supports more strategic launches and opens new opportunities to increase island performance.

You’ll also be able to complete moderation early, receive a passing status assuming your island complies with the rules, and get your island code ahead of time — giving you a head start on marketing before your island goes live.

Engagement Analytics

Engagement insight tools provide the data you need to identify opportunities for improvement, so you can increase the metrics that inform engagement payouts.

Discover Performance Snapshot

Released in March, the Discover Performance Snapshot provides visibility into your islands' individual performance metrics, such as impressions, clicks, click-through rate (CTR), average session length, and the percentage of sessions lasting over ten minutes — all of which influence your island’s success in Discover. Use these insights to make data-driven adjustments and improve your island’s attraction and engagement.

Fortnite Data API

Launched earlier this month, the Fortnite Data API makes engagement and retention metrics publicly available for all Epic- and creator-made experiences.

With these essential insights on individual island performance at your fingertips, you can make data-driven decisions as you build, launch, and grow your games.

More Analytics Tools

Queue Time

Since May, you can now see how long players are having to wait to enter your island. This data presents the median queue time for all player attempts at matchmaking over time, and displays the percentile your matchmaking queue times fall into, so you can gauge your queue times compared to those for other islands.

You see the queue times for attempts that result in successes, cancellations, time-outs, and failures — providing an insight into the impact of changes to your matchmaking settings.

To take advantage of custom queue controls that may benefit your experience, review how to adjust your matchmaking settings.

Release Markers

Available since late May, Release Markers offer a new visual way to identify when each version of your island was published. This helps you track the impact of version changes on performance.

Day N Retention Metrics

As part of our plan to move analytics currently available on the Support-A-Creator program to the Creator Portal, we began migrating Day N Retention Metrics in June. The transition will be finalized in Q4.

Day N Retention Metrics show you the percentage of players that returned to your island the day after they played for the first time, and seven days later. You can use this data to inform future island development and/or marketing decisions.

What’s Next?

We’re not stopping here. More analytics tools are coming to the Creator Portal to support your evolution from game creator to data-driven game publisher.

Expect data that provides deeper insights and sharper clarity to help make tweaks that can move the needle on engagement, retention, and reach.
