Engagement Payout Formula Update - July 2024

We’ll be updating the engagement payout formula on July 1 to increase the weighting of player acquisition metrics to reward creators who are bringing new players into Fortnite and are reengaging lapsed players.
When we introduced the “Time Played” metric last year, we lowered the weighting of player acquisition and noted that we expected to rebalance the metrics over time as we added new features and tools. Over the last nine months, we’ve introduced Text Search, Creator Pages, meaningful updates to Discover, persistence, and more–empowering creators to meaningfully impact and track how players discover and interact with their islands. Independently, creators have found increasing success by promoting their work on social media and by collaborating with influencers to bring players into their experiences.
This adjustment better reflects the importance of introducing new players to the Fortnite ecosystem and introduces more paths to success for creators who market their games off-platform. We will continue to offer new functionality to help creators extend their brand and better understand their audience, such as the launch of enhanced analytics in Creator Portal in June and the introduction of a Creator Marketing Playbook in July.
