Expand Your Fortnite Islands’ Reach with Auto Localization
The Fortnite Team
We’re excited to introduce a new feature for Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN): Auto Localization!
With this feature, you can now fully translate the text in your Fortnite islands, making them accessible to players in all 14 of Fortnite’s supported languages. This means your content can easily appeal to a larger, global player base.
The new Auto Localization feature enables you to generate machine translations for text — elements like gameplay instructions, dialogues, and objectives. You can use Auto Localization alongside the existing Asset Localization workflows you might already be familiar with, to offer players an experience fully tailored to their preferred language.
Manual localization from creators’ chosen sources is not available yet. We’ll share updates on this in the near future.
To get started and learn how to export your text and assets for translation, check out the UEFN Localization documentation for the details on the localization workflows in UEFN. (Including “Asset Localization” and the new “Auto Localization” for text.)

Why Should I Localize My Islands?
- Reach more players: Fortnite is played by millions of players around the world and many would love to experience your island in their native language. By localizing your island’s text and assets, you’re making your creation accessible to a wider audience, helping more players discover and enjoy what you've built.
- Improve player experience: Games are simply more fun when everything is easy to understand. Translating your island’s text and assets creates a deeper, more immersive experience by making the world feel more alive. For example: adding detailed narrative to a roleplaying game — such as vivid descriptions and engaging dialogue — enhances immersion and emotional connection for the player.
