Within UEFN, you can create MH meshes and animations using MetaHuman Animator. Once you’re done, you can attach the digital human to the NPC Spawner device and add the MetaHuman to your island! Additionally, MetaHuman Animator in UEFN also works with Fortnite characters and the Character Device!

These will include a new USD export option for your garments, including geometry, materials, and the necessary data for simulation setup. You can see an example of the Marvelous Designer integration in the Talisman Demo!UEFN creators are eligible for a free one-year license of Marvelous Designer to create dynamic clothing using the new UE5.4 workflow, which can then be imported into UEFN projects. MetaHuman Update for Animation 101 Template
The Animation 101 Template has now been updated to add two facial rigs for compatible Fortnite faces, and one body rig for Fortnite biped animation. This enables the creation of Fortnite facial animations that can be applied to the Character Device. To get this to work, migrate the rig from the Animation 101 template to your UEFN project, and then use the rig to author and edit the animation that you can then apply to your own Fortnite Character. Please note the following:
- Additive mode in animation sequences is not available in UEFN. This must be first done in UE and then imported into UEFN.
- You cannot import skeleton animations from MetaHuman into UEFN.
- Backwards solving from MetaHuman Animator or 3LFN Rigs to Legacy does not work currently.
- Head motion is not supported in UEFN.
UEFN EULA Update
The Unreal Editor for Fortnite Supplemental Terms to the EULA (UEFN EULA) has been updated to include:- New terms governing MetaHuman content in UEFN.
- Clarification that users can use UEFN’s collaboration functionality to share a project for playtesting.
- Clarification that materials added by a collaborator should not be extracted and used in other projects or outside of UEFN.
