The Epic MegaJam is back again and for the first time ever, will be accepting Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) submissions! Join the fun and jam on your very own island for a chance to win some fun prizes and most importantly, ultimate glory in the Fortnite ecosystem.
The Epic MegaJam is a seven-day event that brings together artists, designers, and developers throughout the Unreal community to foster creativity and challenge teams to come together to build and ship a product in under a week. Race against the clock to build a fun, playable experience using the specified theme to shape gameplay mechanics, narrative, and visuals.

It is worth noting that while the 2023 Epic MegaJam is open to both UEFN and Unreal Engine-created submissions, a team can only submit one, and each has a separate submission pipeline as defined in the submission criteria in the Official Rules seen below.
If you are entering as a student (individual or team), please follow the same submission pipeline for the tool used as defined above. To be eligible as a student or student team, each team member is required to be actively enrolled in higher-education or an accredited course, whether online, distance learning, part-time, or full-time.
Any entry can win up to one category, which includes both the primary categories and the Modifier categories provided the criteria of said modifiers are met.
NOTE: Sourced (non-original) assets are allowed where you’ve received necessary permission to use them in your project. Sourced assets will not be reviewed and scored.

For the UEFN game that makes the best use of devices within the game
The winners of the Left to Your Own Devices modifier will be rewarded with the following:
For the best game accelerated with NVIDIA technologies.
Keep your game optimized, running at a minimum of 60 frames per second. The submission should be technically impressive and/or aesthetically pleasing, showing off high-end graphics and high detail, and should use at least one of the following technologies: DLSS 3 (Super Resolution, Frame Generation, and NVIDIA Reflex), RTXDI (Ray Traced Direct Illumination), or Ray Traced Caustics.
Bonus points for using multiple NVIDIA technologies like DLSS 3 with RTXDI, and for following UI Guidelines in the DLSS 3 documentation included with the DLSS 3 plugin download.

Submission Criteria
Submission criteria may vary between UEFN and UE submissions. Please see the Official 2023 Epic MegaJam Rules for a full breakdown of these criteria. Localized versions can be found at the top of this page.- Submit your entry using the Creator Submission Form and adhere to the Official Rules.
- Max 5 members per team.
- Only one map per team will be accepted.
- If you submit more than one map, all submissions will be rejected.
- A team member cannot be in multiple teams.
- All islands and the content within are encouraged to be original works.
- If you use non-original assets that you have permission to use, you must disclose them to Epic at the time of your submission.
- Submissions must overall be a new creation, though non-original assets are permitted, providing you have permission to use said assets.
- Any island considered for featuring must be a brand new creation published during the MegaJam period.
- You must include a flyover gameplay video of your island with your submission.
- It is recommended that your team leader archives the island to avoid any accidental edits past the submission deadline.
How to Participate
Submit your island to the Creator Submission Form using the Epic MegaJam drop down by September 21, 2023, at 11:59 PM ET. This drop down will be available starting September 14.
Required submission information:
- Team name
- Game title
- Team size
- Gameplay video
- Which modifiers are you entering
- Modifier criteria notes per applicable modifier
- Team member names and contact emails
- Country of residence per team member
- List for content made prior to the jam
- Gameplay instructions (if applicable)
Remember while submissions may contain Sourced assets, the overall submission must be original work and be sure to follow the Fortnite Creative featured content guidelines.

Award Categories and Prizes
The 2023 Epic MegaJam will feature 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Unreal Engine finalists, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) finalists, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place student (UE & UEFN) finalists, and 11 modifier categories. Each team member will receive the prize awards unless otherwise stated.
A potential prize winner can only win up to one primary category placement. A potential Modifier Prize category winner can only win up to one Modifier Prize category unless there is no other eligible potential Modifier Prize category winner of the additional category or categories.

In the instance of this modifier category, we will be looking at how the overall audio (music and sound) is within the game/experience, regardless of whether they are premade assets or originally created for the event by the team.

Think outside the box — how cleverly can you build materials for your project? Use a 4-channel TGA texture prepared however you like as the only texture input for all of the materials in your submission.
The winner of this modifier will have shown creativity, cleverness, and technical understanding of UE or UEFN’s material system and have either innovated or pushed the boundaries of what can be achieved with only a single texture input.

The submission should be technically impressive and/or aesthetically pleasing, showing off high-end graphics and high detail, and should use at least one of the following technologies: DLSS 3 (Super Resolution, Frame Generation, and NVIDIA Reflex), RTXDI (Ray Traced Direct Illumination), or Ray Traced Caustics.
Bonus points for using multiple NVIDIA technologies like DLSS 3 with RTXDI, and for following UI Guidelines in the DLSS 3 documentation included with the DLSS 3 plugin download.
