The LEGO® Action Adventure Template Comes to Unreal Editor for Fortnite!

The LEGO Group has been hard at work developing new templates, elements, and assets for UEFN, empowering creators to build exciting LEGO® experiences in Fortnite.  

Epic and the LEGO Group are excited to introduce the latest launch: the LEGO Action Adventure template — a new template designed to showcase novel gameplay mechanics for your LEGO islands!

This template features three adventure-style character classes: the Warrior, the Thief, and Blaster. Each class includes a dedicated demo level linked to a quest system, demonstrating how to integrate story-driven elements into your games or diversify your islands’ gameplay.

The LEGO Action Adventure template also provides a complete demo area showing common configurations used throughout the template levels, including:  

• Stud spawning with gameplay examples 
• Quest configuration
• Combat against NPC enemies, including a boss battle, using swords and blasters
• Custom UI   
• Speech bubbles
• The Cinematic Sequence device 
• Achievements (with LEGO Assembly device) 

In the template, existing UEFN devices are combined with a few custom Verse devices, expanding gameplay possibilities while delivering an authentic LEGO game look and feel.

LEGO Studs as a Collectible Item 

For the first time, LEGO Studs are officially available as a collectible item in LEGO islands. Complete with custom UI elements, sounds, and colors, these Studs are just like those in classic LEGO adventure games!  
 
To spawn these Studs, creators can use the LEGO Collectible device. This device enables you to incorporate Studs into your gameplay in various ways, such as: 

• Guiding players to their next destination 
• As a reward for defeating an enemy 
• As a reward for completing LEGO quests 
• As currency

The LEGO Quest Giver Device 

A standout feature of this template is the LEGO Quest Giver device, a custom Verse device available only in the LEGO Action Adventure Template. This device enables you to design individual quests, quest chains, and repeatable quests, helping you to add additional gameplay depth and storytelling to your LEGO islands. By combining it with existing UEFN devices, you can craft engaging quest-driven experiences.

The LEGO Assembly Device 

This template also highlights the previously launched LEGO Assembly device. Use it to give your island that classic LEGO game feeling, creating configurations where players can build and disassemble props with just the press of a button!

What Can You Create with This Template? 

If you’re looking for inspiration, here are some ideas to help spark your creativity: 

• Combat Catastrophe: Craft a roguelike experience where players defeat enemies to earn Studs, which they can spend on upgrades or building barriers using the LEGO Assembly device. 
• Adventure Tycoon: Players complete quest chains to gain rewards, accelerating their tycoon building progress! 
• Speed Run Spiral: Players race to build and break constructions. The harder the challenge, the more Studs they receive! The player with the most Studs at the end wins. 
• An Epic Journey: Create an immersive adventure that weaves fantastic stories from your imagination with an evolving narrative. Use data persistence from our previous LEGO Santa’s Toy Factory template to save players’ progress and expand the story over time!
