The Walking Dead Universe Lurches into UEFN and Fortnite Creative

Lock your doors and steel your nerves, the Walkers are coming! You can now create islands with assets and content from The Walking Dead Universe (TWDU) using Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) and Fortnite Creative.
Start a new project using one of the new “The Walking Dead Universe” templates to access unique Walking Dead Universe-themed weapons, Prefabs, Galleries, and Walker NPCs.
Terrified of taking on the Walkers alone? Fear not: help is on the way! Starting in v34.30 on April 8, you’ll have back-up as the iconic character Negan becomes available to use as an NPC. When TWDU islands are live, players will have a chance to get the full immersive experience since Negan arrives in the Fortnite Shop on April 4 as a fully playable character!
The spine-tingling Walking Dead Universe assets can be used to build role-playing survival RPGs, prison escape roguelikes, chaotic free-for-all shoot ‘em ups, and much more — providing creative opportunities that range from hair-raising horror to fast and furious action.
Dive in (if you dare) and begin building today! You’ll be able to publish your The Walking Dead Universe islands starting May 16 via the Creator Portal.
Islands created with The Walking Dead Universe content may qualify for placement in a limited time “TWDU” row in Discover.
Slow, unintelligent, horde enemies, Walkers are motivated by their drive to consume living things. While they might be gruesome and eager to invade your personal space, they’re easy to handle in small numbers. Watch out though — Walkers can group together into a horde, united by their common goal of carnage. If you find yourself cornered, time may be running out.
Walkers possess a range of dangerous attacks, including a lethal bite that damages players over time, leading to inevitable elimination. They can even break environmental props to ambush unsuspecting survivors.
As a reminder, the Negan NPC will become available in v34.30!
Alternatively, if you’re brave enough to go it alone, you can start an island from scratch. In UEFN, we’ve added a feature in the project browser that provides the option to use almost any starter island with IP content. To get access to all the Walking Dead Universe content when creating a starter island, simply select “The Walking Dead Universe” from the Brand Selection dropdown. Shiva Shotgun Ranged Weapon
Mow ‘em down with roaring fury. This exotic, modded pump shotgun fires five rounds and is reloaded using a magazine. Charge up an attack to unleash an explosive blast (which also triggers a tiger roar for maximum awesomeness).
Lucille Melee Weapon
Perfect for whacking Walkers and Survivors alike, this weighty, heavy-hitting baseball bat wrapped in wire is the iconic weapon wielded by the infamous Negan. Players who wield Lucille can perform a series of quick strikes, a powered overhead smash, and a bombastic baseball swing.
The site of the epic showdown between Rick Grimes and his survivors versus the Woodbury Army, the Prison is a dark and dangerous place that players will need to survive if they want to complete their objectives. Infested with Walker NPCs, riddled with traps, and designed for close-quarter battle, danger lurks around every corner.
There are eight prison-themed Prefabs total, as well as four prison-themed Galleries.
A shader that influences the overall look and feel of an island, this visual effect will help bring a gritty, graphic novel-inspired tone and visual style to your islands.
To publish your TWDU island, you must be a member of the Island Creator Program and have signed the additional terms and conditions. Already signed the IP addendum for LEGO or TMNT islands? You’re all set!
By signing the addendum, you agree to share 12% of your engagement payout for The Walking Dead Universe islands with Skybound Entertainment. Your island must also adhere to the Brand and Creator rules for The Walking Dead Universe islands.

How Do I Start Building “The Walking Dead Universe” Islands?
If you’re using UEFN, get started the same as a LEGO® or TMNT island — navigate to the Brands tab in the UEFN project browser. From there, find The Walking Dead Universe templates.
